What Is IEW?

Institute for Excellence in Writing is the award-winning Structure and Style® method for teaching writing. IEW teaches nine structural models and specific stylistic techniques, which students practice in every assignment in order to internalize the concepts.

No more blank page! IEW’s tools are specific, common-sense techniques so the student knows exactly what the teacher expects and exactly how to approach the writing prompt.

Just as artists like Picasso imitated the masters before developing their own style, IEW students learn the tools of writing to become confident, capable communicators, in time developing a voice unique to themselves.

IEW’s video courses are not a prerequisite for Pamela White Writing classes. However, IEW’s flagship video course for teachers and parents, Teaching Writing: Structure and Style, is a valuable investment for any parent or educator.
